Walter Ehrenstein (1899-1961) was a German Gestalt psychologist who is remembered for two illusions that bear his name:
The first was Ehrenstein's square illusion he included it in his 1921 doctoral dissertion and he wrote a paper on it in 1925
The second was Ehrenstein's brightness illusion which he discovered at the beginning of the second world war and published an account in 1941.
