Transdiagnostic theory is an approach to understanding psychological disorders outside the conceptual structure provided by the notion of diagnosis. For example in the field of eating disorders psychologists have developed theories that identify common factors affecting the maintenance of behavior in anorexia nervosa, bulimia etc. The same is true in psychosis and depression
