Properception is a term used in psychiatry as opposed to perception. Properception is capturing the world and the internal needs, as opposed to perception which is capturing the world and the external stimulus.

The concept of properception is related to the kinesthetic sixth sense, with the official term being proprioception, being the faculty of knowing the position, orientation, posture, disposition of our limbs and the like, provided by receptors that are in muscles, joints and other places.
