Neonatal disorders are disorders, both [[mental disorders|mental] and physical, occuring during the neonatal period. Some of these disorders can affect neonatal development.
The full ICD codes are somewhat over inclusive for our purposes. But we list here the conditions of interest to psychologists occuring an identifiable in this period:
- Amauretic familial idiocy
- Anencephaly
- Cleft palate
- Crying cat syndrome
- Downs syndrome
- Klinefelters yndrome
- Phenylketonuria
- Turners syndome
Many of these conditions can have long term consequences on the neonate and their families and the accurate identification of the condition and the correct treatment and counseling can have important implications for the subsequent management of the consequences.
