Leaky gut syndrome or increased intestinal permeability is a condition which is characterized by lack of mucosal integrity of the intestine. In combination with the person's genes and individual physiology increased intestinal permeability can be the underlying cause of a wide variety of degenerative diseases such as:

  • autoimmune conditions
  • digestive disorders
  • food allergies or sensitivities
  • skin conditions
  • environmental illnesses
  • most chronic health conditions

Most common symptoms associated with leaky gut syndrome are:

  • abdominal pain
  • gas, idigestion, bloating, diarrhea
  • anxiety, mood swings, nervousness
  • poor immunity, memory and exercise tolerance
  • chronic muscle and joint pain
  • fatigues, brain fog, fever of unexplained origin
  • skin rashes

In the small intestine nutrients get absorbed into the bloodstream while toxins, large molecules, undigested food particles, bacteria and microbes are blocked at the intestinal barrier. Excessive consumption of alcohol, overuse of medication, chronic stress, candida overgrow and eating foods you are allergic to can cause the intestinal lining to become compromissed allowing harmful substances to "leak" and cause many diseases.

Treatment for leaky gut syndrome involves a special diet, lifestyle changes and may require to use some supplement to heal the gut.
