Luigi Corvaglia on Russian TV

(Lecce, January 30 1966) is an italian scholar of the psychology of authoritarianism and an anti-cult  activist.

The central theme of Corvaglia's reflection is that of free will and its limits. In particular, his interest is focused on the relationship between persuasion and personal freedom, a theme on which he produced an original reading.

By rejecting the Rational Choice Theory (RCT), Corvaglia denies that some choices that involve the loss of one's freedom, such as adherence to totalitarian groups or cultures, are really "free". Hence, his interest in the liberticidal and "criminogenetic" aspects of ideologies, religions and cults.

Luigi Corvaglia has dedicated himself to unmasking the psychological tricks used by cult apologists to defend high-control groups, underlining the contradictions posed by academics who claim to defend the civil rights and freedoms of the individual, while in reality defending totalitarian groups that deny those rights and freedoms to their members.

He is member of the Board of FECRIS (European Federation of Centres of Research and Information on Cults and Sects) and president of CeSAP (Centro Studi Abusi Psicologici, Italy).
