Experimental epilepsy is the production of epilepsy and convulsions for research purposes, in both human and animal subjects, by the disruption of the normal electrical activity of the brain. This may be achieved by chemical, electrical or mechanical stimulation or by repetitive sensory stimulation of parts of the central nervous system.
