Donald Meichenbaum is a noted clinical psychologist involved in the early development of CBT, Stress Inoculation Training


He is Distinguished Professor Emeritus at the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, and maintains a private practice as a clinical psychologist.

He was once was voted one of the ten most influential psychotherapists of the century by North American clinicians in a survey reported in the American Psychologist.

He took his initial degree at the City College of New York intending to do medicine but subsequently turned to psychology in his post graduate work.

In 1966 he took up a post at the University of Waterloo and remained there, formally retiring in 1998
