Audiometrist is a hearing care professional who specializes in audiometry, the non-medical assessment and management of communication difficulties caused by hearing loss. Audiometrists normally hold a bachelors degree[citation needed] followed by two years of formal study and another two years on-the-job training after which they may be considered fully qualified after passing their respective state licensing requirements. Audiometers and other hearing instruments are available in different makes, models and styles. The device/s prescribed will be determined with regard to the individual requirements of each client taking into consideration their needs.
